FMG Young Farmer of the Year Otago Southland Regional Final to go ahead under level 2 restrictions

In response to last night's COVID-19 announcement and subsequent alert level changes, New Zealand Young Farmers have made some changes to the upcoming Otago/Southland FMG Young Farmer of the Year, FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year and AgriKidsNZ competitions.

As this is a fast-moving situation, we are assessing the situation daily and following advice from the Government and other appropriate channels.

The safety of our competitors, staff, sponsors, module hosts and spectators is our main priority. It is imperative that we protect our people and do not put anyone at risk. Like other businesses, organisations and events, we need to respond and do our part to limit the potential spread of this virus.


Otago/Southland FMG Young Farmer of the Year Regional Final

This regional final, set to take place on Saturday 7th March, will go ahead, but within government restrictions for alert level 2. This means that this will be a closed contest with no public including food vendors, a limited number of support people for competitors, and a reduced number of event staff on the ground.

The practical day will go ahead, however there will be no evening show. The quiz will instead be run in the afternoon. Details will follow on how you can view the quiz online.

Ticket holders will be contacted on Friday with their refund details.


FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year and AgriKidsNZ

Under alert level 2, these the FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year and AgrikidsNZ will move to an online platform, similar to last year's competition. These events will be postponed until mid-April and we will provide more information on how these will run later in the week.
